content creation framework for anybody trying to grow their distribution without getting burned out.
If you don’t do it right, consistently creating content for multiple platforms can get exhausting to the point you will probably just stop doing it. It is not even a theory, I have seen people around me do that all the time.
Disclaimer: If you are someone who prefers casually scrolling on the internet, this piece is not for you. It is for the ones who want to regularly create content, improve their engagement and build a solid personal brand.
1. The Basic - Batch Create
It's totally understandable if you have a busy schedule and a life outside of social media. It's okay not to have enough spare time to prepare posts/scripts ahead of the week/month. But here's the thing — that is the exact reason why you should batch-create your content.
I often struggle with that too but two main reasons why I still keep trying:
Peace of mind: It helps me keep up with the schedule and stay consistent. Even if I get too busy to write something or plan a week-long getaway, I have peace of mind that my content engine doesn't get impacted.
Immune to validation: Some pieces of content will work and some will not. That's inevitable. But I don't get demotivated/feel like giving up if it does not work some days. Even if the first 6 posts out of 15 don't perform well, I still have 9 left to keep going. I don't have to seek motivation to keep going. And I bet - 15/15 will never fail. I dare you, prove me wrong.
Tool: Use tools like Hypefury to automate your post frequency. I personally don't prefer automation because then, I tend to lose the track of content delivery time and fail to engage whenever the content gets posted. I instead keep the content in my drafts and post it whenever I feel like it.
Secretly, I don't trust third-party apps for automation haha.
2. The Basic II - Repurpose
If you are creating content on multiple platforms and trying to stay active on all of them, it is imperative to have enough time on your clock to spare. But there's a workaround i.e. repurpose content that you have already researched and posted about.
Make notes: While doing your research or before drafting your post, jot down the key points and perspectives. This makes it easier to repurpose without sounding replicative to the same audience on different platforms.
Optimize: You don't have to repurpose 10/10 pieces of content. Analyze which ones have a better connection with the audience and repurpose the ones with higher engagement ratios.
3. Branch Out
If you create informative content, you will gather a lot of insights during your research which might lead to in-depth research on particular aspects. Keep a note of that and let new pieces of content stem from the previous ones.
Why? — an abundance of topics to write about + breadcrumbs can be left in the posts for upcoming pieces to keep your audience hooked!
For eg., if you're writing a thread on the era of great basketball (NBA) players, you can post a separate thread on the life events of Michael Jordan. If you are writing about MJ, prepare a thread on how Nike launched Air Jordans or how much revenue that line of articles clocked. Taking inspiration from the Nike Air Jordans thread, write about the products that failed for Nike or how Nike became the official apparel sponsor for Manchester United.

4. Content Echo Chambers
There are some pieces of content that mostly work better than other pieces of content. Keep a track of tweets/posts that performed well, average, and badly. You can rephrase the bad tweets/posts within a month and you can pick trending ones from a year ago and post again. Instead of retweeting an year-old tweet, just post it again with some tweaks here and there.
Hack: Use Twitter's advanced search or other third-party tools to identify posts that performed really well in the past. It is a great way to keep your consistency up when you have a busy schedule and not enough time to prepare content.
For eg., This post made 30k impressions last year and still managed to get 14k this year. Low effort, decent reward strategy.
Tool: Install Twemex in your browser. It is an extension which helps you find heavy engagement tweets of your own or other creators.
5. Algorithm Breakdown
Take a few days to understand the algorithm. Each platform works differently and your content needs to be aligned with those parameters to have a competitive discovery. Although these algorithms constantly change, it is important that you keep experimenting and adapting with time.
Since you cannot really learn about every single parameter, you should keep an eye on these ones:
Post Frequency ➝ Generally, it's good for all platforms if you can post frequently instead of once or twice a week.
Post Timing ➝ Based on the timezone of the majority of your followers, the degree of discoverability gets impacted. Make sure your post timings are aligned with the regular schedule of your followers. For eg., my late-evening thread usually doesn't perform well because apparently, people don't want to consume informative content at late hours and prefer chilling after a long day at work.
Hashtags ➝ Some platforms push content with relevant hashtags and some don't. In the case of Twitter, content with hashtags just look ugly and have no catalyst effect as such.
Keywords & Tags ➝ Some platforms categorize good content under certain keywords which offer better discoverability, whereas some platforms limit the reach if an individual is tagged in the post (the algorithm believes it's a 1:1 conversation and not a public post).
6. Absolute Isolation
Distractions directly impact your content creation as well as consumption. Whenever you are batch-creating content, try to get rid of all the possible distractions and sit with yourself for a while before you get started.
To improve your focus, try these things before getting started and see if it works for you:
Take a shower - Taking a cold shower releases norepinephrine that calms you down and have a much better attention span. A calmer mind helps with undivided focus.
Turn off the internet - If you watch content and write about it in real time, it is bad for your memory since you are replicating whatever you see. The constant notifications from one app or the other are a distraction as well. Take notes and frame the content in your own words.
Meditate - I am constantly failing at this, so can't comment. But research suggests it has long-term benefits as well. I am still trying to build a habit.
The 5-minute rule - Yeah no, I don't know if there's really such a rule but this is what you have to do — force yourself to sit for 5 minutes and write. Don't be a slave to your self-imposed limitations. The start is difficult, but once you get in the "flow", it becomes really easy to go on.
7. Relevant Content Consumption
This is the most important aspect. To create good content, you must consume great content first. The more you consume, the more ideas will strike you.
Carefully curate your feed to ensure every time you open a platform, you are exposed to the right set of creators and industry leaders. Unfollow random influencers and people who don’t cater to the audience in your niche.
